I am looking to sell my personalised number plate and was just wondering what the best way to do this was. There are a few online - some that let you deal with the buyer directly and others that a sell on your behalf (for comission).
Can anyone advise the best way or most popular sites to find a buyer?

I just stuck mine in a for sale thread on a forum for the car to which the plate related (B4 xxx on a Subaru Legacy B4) and someone bought it. Cost: Free apart from DVLA transfer fees.
I realise that this advice is useless if your plate is name based rather than car based, but if you're on any such forums it might be worth a punt anyway, especially if said forum is for a car type where personal plates are common such as BMW or Audi. Don't just sign up to post your ad though. People really hate that.
What plate is it and how much are you asking?0 -
Its a name plate ending in LEE. I'm hoping to get around £1,000 for it.0

If you go on www.britishcarreg.co.uk (sell plate section) you can put in the details and they will post you a fully inclusive value based on the view of the market.
If you plate is nnn LEE (3 numbers followed by Lee) you may get £1000 but if its xx nnn LEE (2 letters, 3 numbers followed by Lee) I doubt it. Remember someone can only put a plate on car that is the same age or newer than the plate i.e. you cant put a 53 plate on a 51 car.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

My reg is a prefix one and a similar one on that site is close to the price that I was after. I've submitted a valuation request so I'll see what they come back with.0

There is a very good cherished numbers section on ebay. There is also a website called classifieds.co.uk which has a registration numbers section. Both would be good places to list your plate for sale.0
