Will try and be brief, long story.
Last year, my son was studying A levels and was due to start back for his final year. A few days before, he was offered full time job so he took it. I informed the tax credit office. A few months later I recieved a bill apparently I have to pay back money paid to me from July to September.
I rang again and was told it was a mistake and records would be put right. They haven't an this morning recieved another bill stating I owe them. The amount is not little, around £1,400
Anyone have any advice or been in this situation. I will ring them again today after work

As far as I know, if he was not returning to school, then child benefit and child tax credits would've ceased at the end of the academic year. They are only carried on until September if the child is returning to full time education.0

Yes, I am aware of that. He had all intentions of returning to school until this job was offered. If he had not been intending to return, then he would either have signed on or looked for a job when the academic year had finishedLBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

As far as I know the tax credits stop from the day he started work, that is what happened with my credits0

That works out at about £107 per week for 13 weeks - does that even sound correct to you?0

I thought it was from the end of the course, otherwise anybody could say they were staying on and change their mind at the last moment.0
