Thanks, will do, although the way things are at the moment, I will have to wait a looooong time before I'm a granny :sad:donna1987 wrote:nah.. i think the library will suss that they're not under 4
. but make sure your dd and ds know about it when they have their own kids-it looks like only really good & on the ball health visitors actually tell you about it:rolleyes: (as you can probably tell-im not very impressed with our HV)He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Ithink you just quote Bookstart. When you get your first pack, there's a Red House catalogue which tells you about it on the order form.C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0 -
Thank you donna1987. Have given the details to my neighbour for her grandchildren. They knew nothing about it. Very pleased.:beer:0

My DS just got his last pack at 36 months - he adores the books in it! There were also crayons and colouring books in the pack as well name tag style stickers to stick inside his books. The fist pack he got at 9 months was inside a canvas bag that I still use to do the shopping in! Very much worthwhile.

Taken from The Nhs Preganancy Book
You usually see the HV regularly until your child starts school.Health visitors are specially
trained nurses concerned with the health of the whole family. You may meet yours before the birth of your baby. The health visitor will contact you to arrange a home visit when your baby is ten days old to offer help and support. You may continue to see your health visitor either at home, or at your Child Health Clinic, health centre or GP’s surgery, depending on where they are based.
Surestart is the government programme to give families with children help, support and advice on how to give their children the best start in life. They operate a number of schemes on both a local and national basis. Each local council has their own Surestart department.
Have a look at http://www.surestart.gov.uk/ and this should explain more. You'll also find your local surestart listed on there-i would strongly advise you to have a look-you'll be suprised at the help you can get.
Surestart also offer a Surestart Maternity Grant for pregnant women/mums with babies under 3 months on low-incomes in which they give you £500 to help towards the cost of having a baby.
I hope this helps.0 -
my health visitor is a total b1tch!!! She called round once (I knew she was coming to the area to see my friend) I was pottering around in the kitchen (At the front of my house - clearly visable) no doorbell ring or knock - just a card through the door 'sorry I missed you!' AAARRGG
