Do you have a bowling alley near you? That would be fairly cheap for a couple of games. Or would she like to have a sleepover?

  • My eldest's 13th was very popular because we decided on a kids' party theme - they got music, lots of food, the opportunity to ice and decorate their own cupcakes with sprinkles and glitter and sweets, then they all got a party bag at the end.

I think what they enjoyed was that they had all been told at around 10 that they were too big for parties any more, so they had the chance to be spoiled like little kiddies again.

  • we had a home spa party for my daugther a couple of years ago she loved it and then they all slept over on livingroom floor
we had small tables set up in kitchen (i used my nest of tables) one had hair stuff another had nails the other had make up and the girls did each other. in the livingroom i borrowed a couple of foot spa and outside lounge chairs up as massage tables. after all the makeover the girls dressed up (she's 9) and they did a fashion show then had pizza we had ordered and made ice sundas then they watched a film and generally just had fun pretending to be drunk with there grape juice lol
it was the talk of the school for a while and cost virtually nothing cause i had most of the stuff

other idea is you could ask the parents to drop the girls off a choosen location. how about roller skating, ice staking or you could take them to a red letter day some on last minute.com are so cheap

ooh I was going to suggest just what tink did.. however if you have a friend who is a beauty therapist/nail tech you could ask them to come, paint the girls and then share a bottle or wine with you ;)

  • what about a sleepover, you can rent some dvd's and have pizza's
  • How about a PJ party, with pizzas, cakes, choccies, dvds facemasks and mocktails?
  • Bowling or a sleepover are good ideas, I think I had something similar when I was 12. If you do the sleepover and she and her mates are into 'girly' stuff they could do things like have face masks, do each other's nails etc as well.

I like the kids' party idea as well but I think that depends on your daughter and her friends - some kids might think it was deeply uncool but others might love it.

  • Sleepover is a great idea at that age. They could have a film marathon (Twilight films maybe?!) popcorn, pizza. All sleep in the living room together with their sleeping bags.

    I loved sleepover parties at 12-14 :-)
  • Difficult age! too young for teen fun but don't want to be treated like children either!

Register on Pizza Hut website and you get monthly offers - could possible get a 2 for 1 type offer and invite them to an early evening Pizza party . . . our local will make up a big table and make a fuss for all birthday children - and no washing up!
