Hi all, i need some help and advice on insurance type thinggys and i have been told you guys are the ones to ask.
basically my motorbike was stolen, the insurance company have said they will give me £825 minus 400 for the excess.
im not going to get another motorbike but i do have my eye on a old beetle. if i claim on the insurance and take the £400ish am i going to loose it when i try to insure the beetle.
im 27, and i have 6 years no claims. i didnt have my no claims on the motorbike policy.
when i try to get insurance quotes they always ask me if i have had any claims in the last 5 years. does it matter that it was a motorbike that was stolen and i am trying to insure a car?
does anyone know how much a theft bumps up your policy? (im hearing 20% figures from folks) does it effect classic car policys
thanks in advance i promise you all welsh cakes and tea if you can help(, and you can make your way to my place)

You need to read the question carefully but if they are asking about "motoring" claims then they mean and car and/or motobike claims, so yes generally you have to declare your motorbike claim on your car quote.does anyone know how much a theft bumps up your policy?
As with all insurance it depends on a number of factors, including how many claims you've had in total.
Best way to find out is to use a search engine (confused, compare.com, comparethemarket etc.) and put in zero claims and then edit and put in one claim (or whatever the appropriate numbers are). You can then see the differece within 10 minutes.
I would suggest using false email and phone number to avoid spam and lots of calls.0 -
ok, so i tried confused.com and they asked for motoring claims. when i put it in with my theft it came out as £399 but when i put it in without the theft it was £369.
it looks like a theft doesnt really change much. even adding a alarm only saves £10 so im going to go and claim.
thanks for the advice, i feel pretty dam stupid not to have tried that before.
pm me your address and ill get some welsh cakes sent to you from the next batch.
