How will reclaiming bank charges impact banking discussion

However, people who don't have much of a clue what they are talking about, but stand on a soapbox preaching are ignorant. I don't say that out of anger, I say that because that is what I think, if that is ok with you.
I also accept that what you say is what YOU think ... but you should sometimes try talking to those working in IT to find out what is really coming along. They often know 6, 12, 24 months in advance since they are developing the systems to cary out business policy long before it is announced.

Now you're just trolling me..
What I'd like to see is someone who came here to rant about those who have reclaimed, give a valid explanation as to how they could have caused the end of free banking and how those who haven't reclaimed will be paying for their "stupidity" (not my words). I haven't see one yet.0 -

Yes, I have see some of your posts about the possibilities. I don't dispute for a second that banks will go after someone else to fleece if/when this rip-off charging regime gets curbed by the OFT & the courts.
What I would like someone to prove to me, is that it is because people like me stood up for our rights, as opposed to because the bank is simply relentlessly greedy.
I would also like to know why people moan and rant at those people who have had to pay these charges in the past if they believe that it was those charges that was funding their "free" banking. As I said before, if this is the case, then they have benefited from their behavior, so why are they moaning about them?0 -

For proof, look at what has happened recently in both the credit card and mortgage markets ... don't be fooled that all of this is down to the credit crunch ... some of the developments to make these things happen started LONG before the 'credit crunch' reared its head. At the minute I believe the credit crunch is being used, in part, as an excuse for the launch platform for some of the 'new thinking'.I would also like to know why people moan and rant at those people who have had to pay these charges in the past if they believe that it was those charges that was funding their free banking. My main point has always been that the ones this will hurt the most are those that can least afford it. We are selling out easily avoidable charges (if we act respsonibly) in favour of unavoidable mandatory charges. Very very short term thinking.
But then I really look forward to some of the posts that will be appearing on the vent board in another year or so ... it will be easy to point the finger of blame.

Thank you for proving my point Ivan. All of the above is simply your opinion, some of it based only on assumption or what you personally believe. I was asking for proof & facts.0

It is not just the possibility of losing free banking it is all the other little tweaks that basically might mean we get less value for money. Always remember, when banks do badly we ALL do badly, we ALL lose money. Also, if you notice my concern has always been those at the lower end of the salary scale, those that today are just about making ends meet, changes at that end of the market could be the straw that breaks the camels back.
I am happy to wait to see how things play out here, but I am sure those that have campaigned so hard for this will have all their excuses ready to go blaming everybody and everything except the actual reason.
