From personal experience I would suggest you stay away from any of the Acer laptops. Acer also own the following brands: Packard Bell, E-Machines and Gateway.

Heh, it all depends on the model of the Acer, if its a Aspire I would be wary but if its a TravelMate then thats business class and as reliable as IBM's. Also that only has 2GB of RAM so i'd spend some change on more RAM. Even though it is just for kids I would recomend a i series processor This would be Perfect if you could find it. Here Is the Spec Sheet. for £399.99 from PcWorld (And that is a steal at that price if you could find it. i5 Processor, 320GB HDD, 4GB RAM and a Toshiba)0 -
it was a LX.R4702.020

Naa that'll be a Aspire series.0

I bough this a week ago (ordered one day - delivered the next) and I think it's a fantastic laptop for less then £300.
Intel Core i3 -370m (2.4GHz) processor, windows 7 etc.
You don't need to spend more than £300 for a good laptop.
Dont forget the nectar points and possibly Quidco 2% for technology.

Incidentally the first laptop I ever bought was an Acer Aspire for my granddaughter 3 years ago. Apart from the battery it's still going strong and has never been repaired and she uses it a lot!!
E Machines are now owned by AcerI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
