Opinion on Boiler

Hi,
I need to replace a small boiler for a 1 bed flat. Has only 3 radiators, one shower and a couple of sinks to look after.
The plumber has suggested Valliant or Worchester Bosch 24kw option. I think he is saying the Valliant is better.
Any opinions, and what should I be asking? I am not overly fussed on either one, just want to know if one or the other is much better/more reliable than the other.
Thanks!

I'm in the same boat and the boiler I have been quoted for is not 'A' efficient and therefore not allowed to be installed since new rules came in force in Oct 10.
So I would check it is grade A firstly - how much was your quote just to compare with mineYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44
.1%) (42/100) payments made. Total paid 2019 year £1,700
Total paid 2017 year £15,300Total paid 2018 year £13,6000 -
The rough quote was £1400 for supply and installation (including powerflush). In central london... so always a little premium for that!0

Check out this website to check the different boilers, as I've found out they need to be 'A' efficient.
Also just google each boiler and reviews appearYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

Good evening: something has got to give...that is a dirt cheap quote for Central London especially for a WB or Vaillant combi. What is the full specification and have you checked that the installer is GSR? More here.

He said it was gassafe - I will check. This is a rental so I am a bit more careful than in my own place!
I don't know anything about the actual boiler. What should I be looking for? Specifically - what is the best/most appropriate one to look at. Or rather, what is the cheap and nasty one in the range to be avoided?
He said boiler is about £8-900, plus £600 for 1 days installation, including powerflush. To be honest I had budgeted a bit more, but I have had two quotes around that now. Maybe a bit more (like £1700), but no point paying extra to just feel comfortable!0 -

Hi...see my links in previous post. A powerflush alone should take a good part of the day. What is the length of warranty offered on the boiler ? Have these installers been recommended to you by a source you trust? Don't go by price alone. Compare your full, written quotations like for like and check Gas Safe registration online.
Proceed with caution.

Thanks I had a look at the link - looks very helpful. I will get him to do a full written quote for me, and will have a few others do a quote as well.0

Sounds like you've been given a fair quote - I can't see how anyone can charge more. The price for the boiler and associated parts is correct - trade is probably a bit less. £600 for a days work is also good - I wish I could earn that. The powerflush will take a few hours, but a good technician won't charge you for watching the equipment do it's job - no while it's running they will be removing and installing the new boiler. Can you PM me with your installers details as I'd like to use them if my boiler packs up. The only thing to check is their gas safe registration - although that guarantees nothing! but it covers you - I've had 2 Corgi registered cowboys work in my house in the past and Corgi were not interested.0 -

Hi... I neglected to mention boiler brands. The OH has been installing Remeha as a budget option (5 year P+L warranty) for the rental market although his preferred brand is Viessmann. He always fits a magnetic filter as a standard item.
Some installers find it very easy to cut corners....you read about them on forums all the time. The bottom line, as always, is a boiler is only as good as it's installation and annual servicing. An installer should fit to manufacturer's specifications, complete the Benchmark log and notify the installation via GSR.
Let us know how you get on.
