206 airbag and clocks fault?
Hi there,
I have a feeling it may just be the battery, but any suggestions would be great.
Got in my car y'day to go home from a shopping trip and the words 'passenger airbag deactivation' came up on the display. The warning light was on, the STOP light, the fuel warning light, some other lights (car in brackets with skid marks?)..
The car starts fine, and drives fine.. although for a while the speedo, rev counter, fuel guage, headlight to show lights are on are all not working. After a while they came back on again and I was left with just the passenger airbag warning light, everything else was working fine.
I know 206's have a lot of electrical faults and it could be anything, but would it be worth taking to Peugeot, or changing the battery to start with?
I'm worried because it's the airbag, but it's affecting all the other dials too.
Thanks in advance.

maybe worth checking the fuses too - a blown fuse can lead to wierd electrical goings on in modern vehicles - even causing other warning lights to start coming on. Also may be worth checking to see if the earth cables (sorry don't lknow where they are in 206) are secure. My Fiat, for example, has an earth wire which bolts to the inner wing under the bonnet. If these loosen or break they can cause problemsDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0

Cheers exup,
I'm going to pop it on my drive in the morning and have a good look around..
Then take it to Peugeot if it's still not working..9/70lbs to lose0 -
Follow the earth lead from the battery to the gearbox, make sure its not loose or broken.0

firstly do not get battery changed as that is working if it starts up ok.
could be many things like earth lead as said above, body control module if fitted on 206,instrument cluster fault or alternator over charging.0 -
I didn't use the car yesterday at all, since I got back home from being out (where the fault happened), just moved it onto the drive and it's fine! No warning lights, no airbag lights, everything back to normal?!
I'm very happy of course, so I'll just leave it and hope it doesn't happen again.
The only reason I thought it was the battery was because we were sat in the car for ages with the ignition on but the car not running, won't do that again.
Fingers crossed it's fixed now.
Thanks for the replies!9/70lbs to lose0 -

My ex had 3 206s from new while I was going out with her. a 206 and then two 206SWs. The original 206 now and again would refuse to start occasionally. You could turn the key and nothing, lights on the dash would come on, but nothing else, starter motor wouldn't even click. You could then try again a few minutes later and all was fine. Other than that (and the daft tiny little gap between the throttle and brake pedals) we never had a problem with the cars.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -

This is my 3rd too lol.. I just keep ending up getting another one, really enjoy driving it, and they are fairly cheap compared to other cars that look as nice. (in my opinion of course lol)
My last car would occasionally not start as well, just like you said, turn the key and wouldn't even turn over. Only did it now and then, but once it did it when we were on our way back from the airport, luckily I had only stopped outside the shop on my street before getting home. Next day it would always start up first time. Got the started motor changed and it fixed it straight away. I had to have it in the garage for 2 days though, luckily they were quiet and had it running on the ramp for ages and turn it off, and tried to start it again, took them ages to find the definate fault as it could have been a few things.
My last 206 died when the camb belt went9/70lbs to lose0
