The tale of Economy 7, Orion 512 and a very cold flat...
Evening folks
Just moved in. The flat has an Orion 512 heating system and a storage heater Creda TSR 24CW in the lounge. Each bedroom and bathroom has Nobo panel heater and in the kitchen is a switch to turn on the water heating.
Problem 1: No hot water.
I've had the water switch on now for 30 minutes, water from the tap is still freezing cold. The water storage tank thingy sounds hollow when tapped, is that normal?
Problem 2: Storage heater appears to be "flat"
Not sure how long it was switched off for. I've set the left-most control to 6 which according to the manual will store up heat for 48 hours before I can get it operating efficiently. Will it heat the entire house cheaply if say, I leave the interconnecting doors open?
Problem 3: Orion 512
I just don't understand how this fits in with the heating
I've read the manual which goes on to tell me how to set up the 12 zones. It is currently on zone 3. I know what I want to achieve but not how to get there. Does setting a zone up and putting my panel heater in that zone control when it will come on?
Problem 4: Panel Heater
My mate says I should put the slider to maximum as that is the temperature at which it will kick in. I'm used to setting my gas radiator (which has temperature list from 0 to 6) to 3, so I thought the slider should be at 15-18 on the panel instead.
Any help will be appreciated, this is my first encounter with an all electric flat. I find myself a little confuzzled
I'm also trying to keep the bills down as much as possible. Didn't move in till quite late last night, so the letting agent had closed before I got here so I can't ask them at the moment.
TIA
