Cheap first time gas & electricity suppliers

At the end of March I will be moving into a new 2nd floor 2 bed flat so I'm looking for the cheapest gas & electricity suppliers. The flat has gas central heating.
Has anyone got any advice on the cheapest suppliers??

Do you know what your usage will be in kWhs?
Ask the present or previous tenant/owner then put the yearly figures in kWhs into uswitch or some other comparison site using BG standard tariff as the present supplier and pick the one at the top of the list.0 -
