Try painting an oil-based undercoat over them and then repainting as normal.

No question is daft, its a soda based cleaner which is brilliant for cleaning grease from surfaces prior to painting. Its rough on the hands though so wear gloves when you use it.

    Morning everyone,
I have an electric freestanding cooker with no tiling or splashback or anything behind it. The grease and fat on the wall behind it is now starting to look really gross!!! Has anyone got any ideas for cleaning it?

All help and suggestions much appreciated!

    Hi arwenelf,

I tried sugar soap and it didn't work for grease spots as they soon reappeared. If you give the grease spots a light coat with an an oil based paint (any gloss you might have lying around) then cover with your normal paint it will stop them seeping through again.

There's an earlier thread with more suggestions that may help so I'll add your post to it to keep the suggestions together.
