Just spoken to my mum its from ashwood solicitors in burnage. She thinks its a scam too and her solicitor has replied to them stating nothing is known about this and that they have upset a recently widowed lady. They are now awaiting a reply before they release any house insurance details.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230

so what tends to happen if you ignore them? Do they give up?
Ultimately, 99% of the time they will give up. Usually after huffing and puffing and being rude with chasing phone calls and letters. They tend to focus on the elderly or those who are not strong willed and are more likely to cave in. Not those that put the phone down on them and dont communicate.
The chances of any claim being successful are remote at best as its usually a complete lie and those going back years wont be able to supply evidence. You just have to be brave and strong. It's a shame that the solicitor friend let them know she is recently widowed and upset by it as that is more likely to make them target her.
I had something similar to this some years back and for about 9 months I got phone calls which were a pain in neck. However, once they realised they were getting nothing. Be quite clear: It's a crooked law firm trying it on. Do not under any circumstances co-operate with them. Do not give them your house insurance details. Do not give them a telephone number. If you are using a solicitor, ensure that any correspondence goes through him.
Do not refer again to being widowed or 'upset'. This is simply saying "I'm old and frightened, terrorise me some more".
It might also be worth finding out who actually owns the unadopted lane in question.
You need to advise your insurers immediately.
If the matter proceeds to litigation, and the insurer dont know about the situation, they may well consider if their position has been prejudiced.
Advise the buildings insurers immediately. Let them know that you are absolutely confident that this is a try-on and that they should not settle without speaking to you/mum first. Give them whatever info they need to succesfully defend the claim.
Hope you are successful. Problems like this are rife at the moment.
