Capital One overpayment

Hi,

I use my credit card to build my credit rating and for internet purchases and pay in full each month.

This month I have a particularly big purchase coming up so I need to clear some of my balance before it will "fit" on the card. If I pay some of the balance by bank transfer will the remaining amount still be taken by direct debit?

The statement says "If you make additional payments your Direct Debit will still be taken unless your balance is cleared in full."
However it isn't clear if this would still be the full payment or whether they'd just take the minimum.

Thanks

  • The direct debit will definitely be taken. It will take into consideration your payment beforehand so long as it gets received in plenty of time (ie before dd is due). Hope that helps.
  • You say you pay in full each month.
then you ask if it will take minimum :S

anywya if DD is set to pay full and you pay some off then when DD is due it will take the remaining balance you owe if previous balance has reached cap one in time

So if you've paid more than the due amount for a month. Will any overpayment also come off the following month?

If the balance was £0 you throw the account into credit, if it's in debt then no, you are actually repaying more off your debt, the payment will be taken as normal. However this will reduce the amount of intrest oweing

Camuk81 There's no interest owning as I pay in full every month. Yet this month I overpaid by about £50.00.

So as long as you paid in full you have £50 of your money stashed there to use.

If you don't want to use if may be worth calling to ask for a refund or cheque back to you.
    otherwise happy spending
