It's amazing the suffering that goes on behind closed doors while people present a brash front to the world.

    Thank you for this comment.

I know someone whose immediate family (who live in another part of the country) are unaware of how badly affected she is on a day to day basis. This is because she puts on a brave front for the few hours while her family visits, so as not to worry them, and then often has a relapse for days/weeks after the visit as a result.

I heard her own sister comment that she isn't 'really' disabled - yet she knows that her sister's condition is life-threatening and she can be (and often is) rushed into hospital at the drop of a hat.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

make it clear that the condition has existed for at least 6 months prior to any application, (doctors reports etc).

You only need to have care and /or mobility needs (not the condition) for 3 months prior to claiming. You can claim before the 3 months; but would only get it paid from 3 months.

    So true.

Sometimes we have no choice, i don't tell OH or ds everytime i am in pain, they are bored with it, not their fault, but that's how it is.

sometimes we can't do anything but suffer in silence, and if we dare say anything on forums like these, someone will come along who thinks your faking it just because they think you are lazy.
