  • You will not be able to stop the money going out by standing order - you are too late.

    Hi,

jings, do you juggle your payment dates around every week?

Thought the idea of SO/DDs was that you set them up and forget about them.

Why not just arrange them all to come off the day after wages go in?
OH is self employed and income isn't regular, I do all my books on a Friday night or Saturday morning, and figure what needs paid and when, I only have four standing orders, everything else is DDEB and they are standing orders so that I can jiggle them about if needs be. It normally works fine for me, and I've been doing it for six years, this is the first time I've come unstuck through my own mistake :)

There's little use in speaking to PhoneBank. (As others have suggested) LTSB begin processing payments due out on Monday, in batch, on a Sunday afternoon. The reasoning? It's to do with the way LTSB's systems run batch credits and debit. During the week, batch processing begins (if memory serves) between 10pm and 12am the previous working day. The exception is payments for Monday, which, instead of being entered into BACS on the Friday evening, are delayed, and done on the Sunday afternoon. Why? Because that's how ye olde Lloyds does it.

You were right, there was no point in speaking to phonebank, in fact they weren't very helpful at all, and I will just need to suck it up. Lesson learned. At least I am not overdrawn I suppose. :)

I have had a bit of interaction with LTSB of late and found them to be "snottier" ( for want of a more refined word!) than I remember. Sign of the times? All I wanted to do was spend my own money, apparently, you are not allowed to buy Ryanair flights without getting permission.....or that is what they seemed to be inferring!!

    You are too late unfortunately.

S/O's should be ammended the working day before.

As others have said transactions for Monday show up on just after Sunday midday.

If it was a DD they could have recalled it for you. As it was a SO, they can't
  • Perhaps OP you should change the way they bank - Unhelpful bank has a thing called bill payments rather than standing orders - which can be set up and paid WHEN OP wants them to be paid.
OP would have to log on of course to set up amount and date but then unhelpful bank will store the details for the next time.

ah the bill manager is very helpful compared to standing orders though :)
