Joop, I'm in a similar situation. I am a hoarder. I don't have any 45's but do have lots of LP's. They hold so many memories. I know I'll have to downsize when I move but I don't want to throw away my "treasures".

My mum had a large collection of LP's which I had the pleasure of getting shut of when she moved into residential care. At that point she didn't give a monkey's what happened to them, and I certainly didn't.

I suppose if someone else had gone up there and just got rid of everything I wouldn't have known and wouldn't have missed them.

I must admit just talking about it has actually put a lot into perspective... I love this forum!

I can sympathise, having just been through our loft and put everything into storage for a (hopefully) soon to be housemove. There are boxes of LPS and 45s, children's frawings, masses of photos and boxes and boxes of old dog agility rosettes and trophies - can't bear to part with any of it.

I do love the idea of taking photos of it all - think I might do that when I have some spare time.

The idea of having one special biggish box is starting to feel right. I can put all the precious stuff in it. Maybe a timeline as well with old photos so the kids don't have loads of meaningless stuff to go through later on as well.
  • I did my 7" singles last year.

First I checked if any had any value (only 1 out of 200 was worth more than £1 so no), then recycled any that were on compliation albums (60/70), and downloaded a few more off Apple itunes (using a £15 voucher I had for a present).
Just got a few left for those not available digitally, or with fancy artwork, taking up a much smaller box space :)

I did get an afternoon's nostalgia for free though :D
