You can withdraw but not pay in. It is possible that this is a mistake on the PO's behalf though.

That page is out of date. See here, here and here.

As Lloyds and Halifax are now part of the same group, you will find they are adopting the same policies and systems in many areas including IT/internet banking.
It does indeed, but I was ignoring any "offers" and looking at the base value of the account.

These days its better to always worth considering the merits of opening a savings account for a year, closing it and reopening it to benefit from bonus/introductory rates.

  • Cheers for the clarification.

@zzzLazyDaisy - there is no point me considering Vantage until I have more than £3k floating about.

    I think there is:
    • Plus - 1.5% on balances of £1-£2,500
    • Vantage - 2% on balances of £1k-£3k, and more on higher balances up to 21k (using 3 accounts)
So if you've got £1000, it's definitely worth considering, if you're considering Plus.
However the Halifax Web saver Extra beats it on amounts less than £3k

    My bad, I meant £1k.

Gonna be a while before I have that kind of cash lying around - the missus spends it as quickly as it comes in :(

She spends it by leaving her cards at home when we go out. She hardly ever uses her card on our current joint account, but a lot of my money goes on her.

Joint account or not, she'll find a way.

(But I love her to bits - and she did buy the house outright)
