At the moment, I'm still employed ,but due to work related stress I have off from sick since june 2010. my empoyer has totally stopped my payment since january 2011. (since my sickness caused by work, so I have put my case into tribunal already.which is another issue, they stopped my payment also not fairly)
Now I have got employment support allowance for 63 pounds per week started from january this year as well. but I still have private sickness cover insurance which I'm also claiming now .( this process takes some time, I haven't received so far). but if I received this private insurance claim which will be 1000 pounds per month, does the government benefit will be stopped?at the moment, I receive council tax benefit as well. the government will continue to assess my health in this week , I don't know whether this medical assessment will further influence my benefit? since I suffer from worked related stress caused sickness such as depression and sleep problem and sore back etc. what should I prepare for this medical assessment which will be take place this Thursday.
I haven't tell the government that I have private insurance as well, but I still haven't received any money from the private insurance either , it takes time for them to make assessment as well .But it could come to me soon as well.
Thank you for all potential help from you and your time!!:money:

You need to declare any income when you apply for means tested benefits like CTB.0
-
Your income will be too much for CTB.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
50p saver #40 £20 banked
Virtual sealed pot #178 £80.250 -
As already stated, for any income assessed benefits such as CTB you need to inform the government (your council for CTB, the DWP for others) if your income changes - so as soon as you start receiving payments from your insurance you must tell them.
If you are claiming Contributions ESA then your insurance income won't make any difference, if you are claiming income based ESA then you need to inform the DWP of your change in circumstances and you are likely to lose the benefit though will continue to get National Insurance contributions paid for your.
As for your ESA medical, you will be assessed as either:
Able to work in which case your ESA will stop unless you appeal
Unable to work but capable of work related activity - i.e. you cannot work at the moment but with help you may be able to do some work. If you get put in this group your ESA payment will be upto £91.40 a week
Unable to work and unlikely to be able to work in the forseeable future in which case you'll be put in the Support Group and your ESA payment will be up to £96.850 -
Thanks for all of you who response mymessage, especially MrsManda's response is very clear for me.
I think my ESA is income based ,(my husband get care allowance to look after our disabled son ) . I don't know whether I could change to contribution based, if my private insurance claim is successful.I only worked in UK for 6 years time,I don't know whether contribution based ESA could apply for me.
Regarding this medical assessment,If I assess myself, althrough I suffer lots of stress , but that is all work related ,I'm afraid of unfair redundancy due to a personal relationship broken with my boss and MD of the company as well.I still able to work, but the company bully me and harassment me and tried to make me redundancy after this personal relationship broken with the MD ,My redundancy consultant is still on going process, my case is complex case, the company made me can't back to work and made me sick--i was throated of losing job since Nov.2009 and a series of bully and harassment just followed since then , they stopped my payment as well during this redundancy consultation period which I do suffer a lot of stress and depression ) .
Shall I let the doctor who will make my health assessment soon to know all the true situation ? If I assess myself,I still able to back to work, if the work environment is friendly AND LESS STRESS.But currently my employer let me can't back to work,I'm fighting for the potential unfair redundancy FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, AND the case IS in tribunal already.
THANK YOU ONCE MORE FOR YOUR KIND HELP IN MY STRESSFUL TIME!0
