Hi,
I'm Ralph. I'm 8 months old, German Shepherd boy.
Before I came to the Uk I use to live in Ireland.
I lived with some people but they didn't want me and threw me out onto the streets when I was 4 months old. I was so sad and I don't think I did anything wrong. It was dark, it was cold and I was so scared all on my own. I tried to go across a road and a car hit me, that really did hurt and made me cry. My front leg hurt so much I couldn't stand on it. But I was lucky, some kind people took me to see a dog doctor who made me go to sleep and when I woke up I had this big plaster on my leg. It wasn't easy walking with it on and I had to stay most of the time in my cage, seemed like forever and I really wanted to run around and play.
When the nice dog doctor took the plaster off I went to another place where there were lots of dogs and that was fun, although I still couldn't run around much.
I then went on a long journey to England to find my forever home.
But now my leg is poorly and hurting me again and I saw another dog doctor who says I need X-rays and probably an operation by an orthopaedic surgeon but this is going to cost a lot of money.
Please could you help me to run around by helping Sussex Rescue to pay for this medical treatment, even a pound will help. xx

How about a sponsored dog walk? Get all your members to get sponsored via work/family/neighbours, if only 50p per person, and then if you have 20 members who each can get sponsored for £10, then that's £200. Needs to be a reasonable sized walk, maybe 10 miles for adult dogs, obvious a lot less for youngsters! Sponsored stuff is quite old school, but it works because people are happy to hand over 50p or £1 to someone they know, and if each person knows 10 people... etc. Just force of numbers!
Good Luck!0 -

An especially good plan is to try and get a route on private land. We arranged such a walk across a large private estate last year and it as really propular because people had always wondered what it was like. The and owner was please to donate his land as long as we kept strictly to the areas he had us mark (so you need a few stewards, who could be less mobile people) and we didn't use dog poo bags (he said rain will wash away poo, but not plastic!).0 -

Have shared this link on Facebook, could you not ask all your sussex members who have FB to do the same. The more publicity the better. Contact the local radio station, or tv station anything to drum up publicity.0

Do you have a local free paper, they are always looking for stories that appeal - Makes them look like they are trying to do some good to give a little publicity.
Contact other German Shepherd Rescues round the UK.
What about local shops, hairdressers. Sell raffle tickets for a prize of a cut and blow dry, then which ever number is picked wins the prize type of thing.
Is there any chance that the vet will reduce the price for some free publicity in the paper. Human kindness to animals always appeals plus he gets the thumbs up from the public and more patients etc.
You get my drift?0
