Hi i live in Nottingham and have just tried to get a quote for home and contents insurance from M&S and it has been declined because we live in a high flood risk area.I have lived in the same area for the last 55 years and never had any problems with floods, what a joke they are and i would suggest they review where there information is obtained from !!!!!

I wouldn't let it get to you. They're not the only insurer out there0

Insurers want to avoid risk. Clearly some people near you have claimed for flood-related incidents, and/or their postcode/based map shows the area as increasing risk of flooding (maybe local newbuilds on former soakaway land upstream, whatever), so they don't want the risk. Try another insurer or ask how much it would be if you remove flooding from the policy?0
