deed of variation

If someone receives a sizable inheritance whilst receiving housing benefit and council tax benefits, this would obviously mean a stop to any future benefits for the individual.
Should the recipient of the inheritance however, file a deed of variation in favour of another family member, would their benefits be unaffected upon the transfer of the inheritance under the deed from the court?

I think it would be considered deprivation of capital and the 'someone' would still lose their HB because they would be assessed as if they still had it. Hasn't all this been answered in your other thread? There is no way around it.

Surely if someone was on benefits and received a sizable inheritance -they would find it preferable to being on benefits??? (and would not want to transfer it so as to still claim benefits) or am I missing something here?

    And anyway isn't that fraud?

If someone is so badly off that they're on benefits, why would they give a large amount if money away; it doesn't make sense.

The OP wants to find a way for his mother to hide this money, and continue claiming benefits. I'm sorry but I cannot sympathise with this at all. If I had one hundred thousand pounds I could quietly motor my way to retirement bothering no one. How to 'hide it' would be the last thing on my mind.
