reversal of payment on debit card

Last week I sent away to a firm in liverpool for some items for a sewing machine and paid by my Natwest visa debit card, the items came but the table top laminate was broken on all corners, the rubbers I ordered were miss moulded, and one of them was half the size it should be, the other two were completely wrong and a note on the package they sent me said that they did not have any of the ones I wanted for 12 weeks so I better cut and grind these up to use them !.

I signed for the items as unchecked, I then when finding the damage etc sent them an email telling them I was not accepting the goods as they were damaged and incorrect and sent them photos of the items as received. I requested they arrange their return and replacment. I have since sending these on friday heard nothing.

Can I and how do I do a reversal of the debit card payment, I can't find how to on the Natwest site.

Thanks

You'll need to call NatWest, you can't do it online.

Yes, but I would suggest you wait a little longer than a day.

NatWest can raise what's called a Visa Debit Chargeback. Most banks will advise you must allow 30 days before they can intervene (I believe it's a stipulation by Visa), and will suggest you take all reasonable steps to obtain a refund, directly from the merchant.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

Call the Natwest chargeback dept 01702 271408 during office hours and they will be able to assist you.

    .

I intend too, however it is now 2 days from 9am on friday really isnt it, and if this is the way it is going then the writing is on the wall isn't it, especially from a large company and from their lacsadaisical attitude to my rubbers !.

30 days is a long time to wait when you need the money and their getting some kind of intrest on it however miniscule.

Thank you to all for the replies.

No - it's just one working day. Just because they have an online facility you shouldn't assume the back office works 24/7.

Have a look at their promised response times. Just because it's via Email doesn't mean they have to respond in a day. Add a touch of realism, as a chargeback will fail on that basis if you attempt it now.
