Home Insurance Cover for Mobile Phones (not homes!)

We (renters) have a contents policy with More Than which breaks down as follows:

Contents in our home: £131.85
Contents outside our home, money and credit cards: £29.38

I am looking for our exact policy wording but was wondering, do these insurance policies tend to cover mobile phones, and if so to what extent, i.e. loss, theft, accidental damage etc?

If not, what companies do cover mobiles on their contents cover?

(Neither phone is worth over £500 so need not be declared separately)

Cheers!

I opened the post thinking it was about Mobile Homes.

In regard to Mobile Phones, you would be better getting cover via the company that your phone company uses. Under Home Insurance it would only cover the phone itself and not any reconnection charges or usage whilst lost/stolen. As I understand it and I am not an expert specific Mobile Phone Insurance provides much more extensive cover.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • My sincere apologies and only just seen that error myself! Is it possible for a mod to change the title of this thread to read [...Mobile Phones], which am sure would be much more interesting topic anyway :)

Oh, very disappointed, I thought it was about mobile homes too! Mobile phones? How dull!

You can change it yourself. Just click on edit at the lower right hand corner, then 'go advanced' in the window that appears next. You get the option to change the title line.

I can make up a question about mobile homes if you like ;)

    Shame....

I've never bothered insuring a phone in all these years of having them, since they were bricks with aerials sticking out of them. Far cheaper just to buy a replacement cheapy until your contract is up for renewal again when you can get a flash new one. But I've never lost/broken/had one stolen either. Well, my current iphone has a cracked screen but when I get round to it it will only cost £30 or so to have it fixed at a local shop. Hardly seems worth insuring it really.

On the other hand, if I had a mobile home..................
