$99 noteslate? Anyone going to get one?

http://www.noteslate.com/

I think this looks great. I do a lot of brainstorming, note taking, back-of-envelope type stuff and I think for $99 = £60-70 this could be great for me!

Shame there's no video of it working or any more details. All looks a bit cryptic to me.

    Hi

Interesting. The green and red look brill

Hopefully they'll be some videos is June/July when it's released. On a couple of sites, posters are wondering if it's real or will it ever be produced. Somewhere the truth is out there. Roll on June.

IMO, it's a very limited device without a text reader (e.g. the simple .pdf reader that won't be in the initial release) and an OCR function (supposedly coming later as well) - and the accuracy of the latter will be critical, as there's no point in having OCR if it doesn't work well.

I like the ONE colour display...do you want it all Black or All white? (surely it's got to be at least a TWO colour display to be able to make anything out?).

My gut reaction is it's either a joke or vapourware, as the only way to get the touted battery life is with eink of some kind, and all the eink displayers have at least 16 colour greyscale (16 shades from white to black with various greys in between), and the eink displays are what makes up much of the cost of all the ereaders at the moment.

The fact that apparently it's only going to be available from that website (registered in Czechoslovakia), makes me doubly wary.

it's a shame because the more i look at this the more i think it's an early april fools joke or a design school graduation project rather than any kind of real device :(

Still i'll look forward to hearing more in the future. It's the kind of thing i could see microsoft or google picking up and running with.

I don't care about the PDF reader or OCR especially - just a note taking surface like this for a few quid is just perfect for what i'd need.
  • A 13" e-ink display? Not this side of £100. This is, at best, very wishful thinking.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

  • This does look interesting and is something I would be very interested in....The price is somewhat low which concerns me in terms of the legitimacy of the product.

I really do hope it is for real, as I want one now :D

The question is: How much of an improvement is it on an Etch-a-Sketch?
