forgot to add... as i believe,the earliest you can claim the sure start maternity grant is from 29 weeks pregnant, so if your wife is 29 weeks or more pregnant before the changes take place in april you may still be able to claim it (this is why i think i'll just miss out on claiming myself).
Don't take this as gospel, as it's just what i have concluded after much searching on the subject myself, but still worth a try!!0
