Town and Country Parking at Asda

A relative of mine, driving my car with my permission, parked in Asda and failed to buy a ticket. Very remiss, but not a hanging offence!
My relative was ticketed with the usual £30/£60 demand, yesterday. No doubt Town and city Parking will obtain my address from DVLA and send me an invoice with the usual threats.
As I was not the driver I shall suggest, politely of course, to them that they address their demand to that person, and offer to supply their name for an “administrative charge” of £500, or is that being a bit greedy!
I shall also tell them that I do not expect to receive from them any further correspondence in this matter, but if they insist on writing to me again they agree to pay me £10 for each letter they send, a bit like a solicitor really.
I shall of course make the approriate noises about County Courts, bailiifs and credit ratings.
Can any one see any problems with this?

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Too clever by half.
Just ignore them.0 -
Dont waste your time contacting them
and get on to the police to get them to lift your relative for twocing.
They stole your car if they were driving without your permission, probably without insurance too.
Wonder what would have happened if they had had an accident.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes, I could ignore them, but they are leeches and con men, pond life; they prey on the timid and the vulnerable, and anyway, I am a sad old git with too much time on my hands.
I want to cause them as much pain as they cause others, if possible, to make them spend money dealing with my complaints. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
You are assuming, wrongly, that they have hearts. They may well join in the banter for a while then just give up.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

...I want to cause them as much pain as they cause others...
Fair enough, they deserve no more than that.
But your guerilla tactics could come back to bite you if yours is the one case this year they pursue to the county court.
There's also the dubious legality of who was driving the car.
All-in-all, it's best to draw a veil over the whole thing.0 -

Contact them and they know that have got live bait and you will get more letters and more hassle.
Just ignore them."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0 -
Why put your head above the parapet? Just ignore-remember it's nothing personal, just 'business'.
I would be more concerned with with the issue of your car being taken without your consent.
Your move...............Police???0 -

I actually see where you're coming from - I love a good complain and enjoy the to'ing and fro'ing of an argument but in this case you'd be much better off annoying Asda.
Start with the store manager and also the CEO - andy.clarke@asda.co.uk
Just found this web site which everyone who has ever got a PPC invoice in a car park that is for a national chain may find useful :

I noticed last week that in the Asda store in Retford several T&C's signs still have the words "Civil Penalty Charge". I did ring up T&C asking about this several weeks ago and was told that they are being changed. I asked why couldn't somebody stick tape over the offending words, but was told that "this wasn't possible". This in spite of tape being stuck over the amount of the charge, amending it to £60.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
