they do have branches...although not too many...not as 'High St.' as Barclays.......
can be opened over the phone, and cash/cheques [remember those?] can be paid in through the Post OfficeNo, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

That feeling can be hard to come to terms with but as you go through BR and come out the other side you learn to cope with this. And you will start to see the positives eventually.
The main thing is you are now dealing with your situation and taking the necessary steps towards a complete fresh start for you and your family and a debt free future.
Hold your head up high and don't be ashamed. Please keep posting here if you have any questions, good luck0 -
I agree.....keep in touch!
Bankruptcy is roughly on the moral and 'failure' tables where divorce was 60 years ago!
It is about time society and the establishment got itself into the 21st century with regards to Bankruptcy.
There is no need to feel a ''failure''.....when we get married, we don't envisage divorce coming along, do we?
How would those trillions of us who are divorced, feel if all our friends, family and colleagues started climbing the moral high ground with us over 'failed marriages?'
Many people view divorces as plus points on their 'street cred'.....
yet..so much of society...and the financial establishment we are all so actively encouraged to support, get truly petulant regarding BR!
So...far from being a failure...you have found yourself falling into a financial dark place....and are now actually climbing the ladder back up to the light.....No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

kaleidoscope,
I'm concerned you have only told your husband about your bankruptcy and 'intend to keep it that way'.
You should be prepared for the fact that your bankruptcy may advertised in the local press, and all your creditors will be written to.
Bankruptcy is a juicy piece of gossip for anyone that knows you, but such tittle-tattle is irrelevant to your situation.
You need to keep focus on sorting out your affairs, and looking after your family.0 -

the above actually depends on where the BR lives......and exactly what the OR's office consider 'local' press?
In my case...even if the OR's office had been bothered to post a notice, the 'local' paper used is more local to the other side of the country than round here....
I did enquire about the press policy, of my OR....was informed that whilst it is a 'possible' procedure, they don't do it any more..possibly for cost reasons...as such information really has little relevance in this day and age.
With s many BR's occurring these days, I doubt one individual would be .noticed.,,unless there are folk who deliberately scan for these things????
Not counting the Gazette, of course....a procedure that really needs knocking on the head these days. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

There is some suggestion local publicity is more likely in the case of a small or sole trader, which the OP is.
But there seems to be no hard and fast rule.0 -

Of course its going to come out..but Im not going to actively broadcast it
Its not something that you drop into conversation "oh hi..did I tell you Im about to file for bankruptcy"..so at the moment I want to discuss it with people I trust and thats my husband..obviously it is probably going to come to light once Im declared bankrupt but I dont really feel theres a need to advertise the fact..I cant discuss it with my mother as she would strongly disapprove..and would not be supportive..
The sort of thing I do for a job as it were is very hit and miss..I dont sell anything either..I dont run a business and dont employ people so tbh..I dount many people would be bothered on hearing I had gone bankrupt..I dont owe money professionally and am going bankrupt personally0 -
sorry if that above comment sounds a bit off..but I guess what Im saying is..I know it will come out..(not something Im looking forward to) but its not something that IM actively going to tell people..I have never seen a list of bankrupts in my local paper so but Im prepared for it happening..one of the raesons Ive held off for so long..the shame factor0
