currys and microwaves

hello,

i purchaased a microwave (25l) a year ago along with anything happens warranty.

the microwave broke down and i got a replacement microwave. i accidentally chose a 17l version. when i opened home, the missus opened it and said that got a lower capacity one. went to return the microwave to get a 25l one and was told that since i had opened it and there was a fingerprint on the microwave it could not be replaced. i told the guy (turned out to be a manager) that since i had an anything happens policy what he was saying was illogical.

he is adamant that currys cant do anything about. i tried everything including telling him it is a 50£ product, he can easily accept it back or face a complaint from a customer. he did not relent. he showed me a fingerprint of mine and claimed there were scratchmarks

does curry have a ppolicy of not accepting a product after it has opened. comet does not apper to have such a stupid policy and is willing to take back things that have been opened either for a like for like repacement or for a 10% cash reduction. looks like currys have lost me as a customer for ever.

is there anything I can do here?

    Return it as faulty?
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

  • The problem here is, is that you chose the item - the fact that it had a lower capacity than your faulty one is neither here nor there....it was your mistake.

The microwave isn't faulty and even if you tried to return it as such I would simply give you another one of the same model and capacity.

Perhaps next time your wife shouldn't send a man to do a woman's job?
