To clarify, by no pavement marking I mean no white boundary lines showing how much car can park on pavement.
Car was parked to right of sign post permitting parking on pavement
but still issued ticket for parking on pavement.
but you can only park in the marked areas.
I.e. you cannot park where there are no markings.0 -
Which road / town was this?0

The highway code says:244
You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.0 -

Did you notice that in post#11 there is a link to a picture of the sign permitting parking on the pavement?0 -
And you shouldn't park on pavements that are not marked as there is a high likelyhood that you will damage the services below as a number of people on our estate have found. The amount of customer side water leaks from meters is incredible, one common issue seen? The households car parks on the path outside the house running over the meter chamber. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
Clifford Road, TW4 7LR, Hounslow.
Sign posts clearly allow parking on pavement in one direction (left or right of sign), there are no white lines showing how much the car can be up on the pavement.
Hounslow have started to ticket cars if the gap left between car
and wall / drive is, judged by warden to be, too small.0 -
Google street view clearly show the signs and the fact that there are no markings (at the time the streetview car went by).Clifford Road, TW4 7LR, Hounslow.

As has been mentioned earlier, the sign only permits parking within the marked spaces. Therefore if there are no marked spaces then there should be no pavement parking.
Interestingly, just round the corner in Wilton Road there are markings. Shown here.
Maybe you should lobby Hounslow council to get the markings done.
Perhaps ask a warden how big they feel the gap should be.Hounslow have started to ticket cars if the gap left between car
