Car tax - motability and private car

I was recently awarded DLA mobility at the higher rate, and was given a form to claim car tax exemption. I have also applied for a motability car, but have not yet got the car.

I own an old car which I will still keep, as we use it to tow our caravan. Would I be able to claim tax exemption on this car?

Hello I'm pretty sure your exemption form will only be valid for one vehicle and that would probably be your new motability one.They will ask you for the exemption form to tax it.

You can't have the motability car AND the car tax exemption on your own car, it is one or the other.

I was in the same postition as you in that I wanted to keep my old car for towing a caravan but the exemption can only be claimed for one vehicle.

I already had the tax exemption applied to my original car but had to return that tax disc to the DVLA before I could take delivery of my new motability car.
