LPS on isle of wight

I recently stayed at a hotel on the I.O.W, they gave me a parking ticket to display in my window to say I was a hotel guest. I arrived in the dark it was very misty and 3 parking bays adjacent to each other the one at the far end ( normal bay ) I couldnt get into. Chap moved his car in the first bay and I reversed back and into the space. ( didn't notice it was a disabled ) next morning I had a ticket for £40.00 from LPS. I am a company car driver , my friend says I should ignore it would you recommend that I ignore it or appeal. There were many disabled spaces at the front of the hotel, but this was snuck at the back without signage .......and it was dark. I would not knowingly park in a disabled space this was a pure mistake on my part.

Does anyone know of this company and what is the likely hood of any repurcussions from this !!

Thanks in advance for any help and advice

It was a genuine mistake if the bay was poorly marked and badly lit then you have done no wrong. Even so disabled bays in private car parks have two purposes No1 to provide a parking space near a amenity for the disabled. No 2 to facilitate the ripping off of unwary motorists by private parking companies.

Your case is scenario No 2, ignore it, they no not know the driver, they can not charge penalties, they are relying on your gullibility.

Just make sure the company you work for realise, this is not an official ticket and does not need paying!

    Agree with the above.

You can ignore the company LPS, it's a piece of bog roll, do not appeal.

BUT!!!!!!!! Your big headache will be your own company.

How intelligent and clued-up is the Fleet Manager? They will receive threatogram letters from the company and their debt collectors over the coming weeks, the letters look official but they are NOT. Email the Fleet Manager on Monday and give him this link:

    http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/2009/5/28/question-private-parking-fines-fleets-urged/30698/

Tell him categorically that they/he has zero liability for a 'private parking charge' (which is not a parking ticket or fine, it's just a breach of contract allegation against you personally).

If they are stupid enough to say you must pay then I would be willing to bet that your employment contract probably does NOT allow them to make you pay this invoice. It's not a fine from any authority, not a traffic offence, not a parking ticket even though it models itself on one.

So you must take action to stop your employers from paying and charging you, or panicking and having a go at you to pay! Tell them about the generic scam of this cowboy industry.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
