It will depend entirely on what content you have in your HTML source and how it is formatted - i.e. if you have a table, what formatting is used to indicate which values correspond to rows and columns.
In that situation I'd use the import wizard in Excel/OpenOffice - both are fairly good at suggesting likely formats to try, though I confess I've only really had experience of importing simpler things like .CSV files via that route.0 -
In Excel
Data > Import External Data > New Web Query
this should open Internet Explorer. Paste in the url (the web address, which can also be in your hard disk) and open the page. You can then select any tables within the page and proceed to import. Even works for pages you have to log into, log in beforehand in another tab of the browser.0 -
Or when all else fails, Copy then paste.:D0

Thanks for the info.
really helped. I have to ask though does this apply to older versions of excel? Some computers at my office still uses excel 2000. 0 -
Copy & paste won't copy the table structure, you just get a part web page in 1 cell. This Web Query method puts the tables into columns.
I use this technique in Excel 2002 & 2003 and apparently the function does exist back to Excel 2000.0
