I think you'll find Kindles are only sold by Amazon or John Lewis.
  • i just got a kindle yesterday
i got it through currys click and reserve £152 like on amazon and used cashback
the transaction has tracked & validated already
you'll not get it cheaper than the amazon price of £152 I don't think

Thank you both. Yes I think I will order the £110 one direct from amazon. Does it come preloaded with books and how much do they cost - I always buy the Richard and Judy selection in paperback at around £3.50 per book but got a feeling I won't get deals like that???

you can get lots of classics free
otherwise some prices I've seen are cheaper to buy in print than for the kindle!

the £111 one means you have to have the kindle plugged into computer to download new books

cats - yes I couldn't think of a good enough reason for paying the extra as I would always download through my laptop and make sure I have plenty on there if I go away. Are there any other major benefits to having the more expensive one? By the way just looked at prices for the ebooks and was pleasanlty suprised - much cheaper than the audiobooks I buy anyway!

  • I think it's just the convenience of having the 3g 'download anywhere thing'
I'm having to be veery controlled with my kindle
the temptation is to just buy everything!
Icve downloaded a few freebie classics and seen several books that I've put on my wishlist
if you've got a currys near you, you can click and reserve via cashback and collect it later today (if you want it mega fast)
there may well be other shops that offer it on a cashback site though

Don't have one and not planning on buying one. You might as well wait a little longer since this year, a lot of touch pads are going to be introduced and released. It's the age of touch screens.

This is not true - you can download direct to the kindle whenever you are in a wifi zone eg at home, wifi hotspot/cafe etc.
They also sell Kindles in Tesco, useful if you collect clubcard points.
  • I got the £111 from currys with 3.03% topcashback. I used vouchers from MBNA credit card too to save a bit. 3G is good, but not really necessary IMHO. Books: many free, many cheaper than paper. Case: ebay for £11 (again topcashback), light not quite as slimline, but worth the £40 saving
  • I believe that if you download Calibre you can use the books from e-libraries.
