Help
I have a very small business, bed and breakfast.
We are often away camping in France and I am able to access my ansaphone via my mobile PAYG which I rarely use I need some way of checking my emails. I have been advised that a smart phone will be very expensive in France, a net book is one solution but a friend said an ipod touch would be fine. There are plenty of free wifi and hotspots where we camp. Any advice out there please.

If you use a smartphone to use the internet connecting via free wifi, it won't cost anything.
Having used all three of your suggestions, I would go with a netbook. It's the least convenient to carry around, but if you need to respond to emails then having a real keyboard is a big plus.0 -

I agree , a netbook gives more options, I take mine + tiny usb card reader that allows me to save photos from my camera, edit them before saving them and emailing/uploading also with 250gb (tiny I know but cf ipod humongous) I can take a few recorded live tv recordings (they were when broadcast) too and watch them using VLC. Before the nay sayers jump in it is possible to use gimp to edit pics on a netbook. The other plus point is it charges my phone(desire)/wife's(still desirable but uses a blackcurrant or whatever) phone, and our Sony PRS505's (kindle was not around when I bought the SOny , well not the cheaper one now available) , and the Satnav. The other bit is I dual boot mine with Win7 and Ubuntu. Ok I'will get my coat now but before I go, I can choose my own browser, video player,mp3/aac/whatever format player too.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I have all three too - the smartphone is always available on my hip (a Nokia 5800) and it has a tethering programme. I use it as a hotspot for the Ipod Touch and netbook in the UK.
The Ipod is better to use than the smartphone's smaller screen, the netbook is even better screenwise. Typing anything - the netbook wins hands down (pun intended - sorry)! I've seen my daughter thumbing furiously with her Iphone but I could never match that.“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be twenty one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.”
