Barclays Pinsentry - 7 digits?

Hi,

Has anyone experienced Barclays Pinsentry only giving a 7-digit number instead of 8? It seems to be an increasing number with each use, and recently mine has gone from 9*** **** numbers to *** ****, having presumably started again from 0, and these numbers don't even work

The irony is I've opened an account elsewhere and only want to log in to transfer my money to my new account where I'll be free from this nonsense!

Cheers :)

I opened an account with Barclays and after experiencing the PIA it is to use a card reader EVERY time you login and EVERY time you transfer money (using existing Payments) I left and went elswhere too.

I particularly hated the way after you do finally login the next screen places the advert on the following page perfectly where your mouse pointer is sat from the previous click.

    Annoying as hell.

My NatWest reader gives 7 digit codes sometimes. It doesn't stop me from doing anything.

  • a bit odd, I am staff and we use them every day with loads of customers to id them and I always get 8 digits unless it is summat like Barclaycard I put in

    Bizarre

I kept on only getting a 7-digit code with my PinSentry device. I only realised much later that it was because I had inserted my Barclays CREDIT card into the device instead of my Barclays DEBIT card. Careless mistake!

This happened when I carelessly inserted my CREDIT card instead of my DEBIT card into the PinSentry device.

I'm not seeing the problem every time you transfer money. When you first transfer to a destination, it asks you whether it should remember the details so you don't need to use PINSentry next time you pay that person, and if I click "yes" then it doesn't ask me. It even seems to be smart enough to realise that if I go for "new payee" and then choose one that's already in my list of confirmed payees, it doesn't ask again.

That said, I haven't tried it since they upgraded me to the new-style olb.

I log in with a 5 digit passcode and a couple of letters from a memorable word?
