Wireless network question.

Hi I have set up a wirless connection between a PC and TV using a wireless access point. When the router and access point were switched off, and then restarted, it became impossible to share photos. I have had a fiddle about on the computer and found a 'wireless network set up wizard'. I have gone through this and everything is working perfectly now. Music files are shared between TV and wifi radio, and photos are now on the TV. It still works after everything has been switched off and restarted.
My question is.....
The router and access point have the same password. Do I need to do anything else to protect the data and equipment ?
TIA

depends on 1. how easy is the password to guess and 2. (assuming you mean to log into them) how paranoid you are someone will get in and change the settings.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Thanks... password is random numbers, capitals and lower case so should be fine. Is it the password that stops 'people' from seeing the data? I thought that I might need to install some firewall or something on the new access point. ( I don't really understand how all this works !)
thanks for your help

If it is a modern access point it is highly likely it has some sort of firewall built into it. The router certainly has.
you can set up MAC address filtering, change the default SSID, disable SSID broadcasts, change any default admin passwords and use WPA2-Personal with AES or TKIP encryption. It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC0 -
Running the wifi network set up wizard on your computer will have enabled file sharing from your computer. It will not have changed anything in either your router or AP client. If your wireless network is set up with WPA-2 and a strong password you don't need to worry, your data is secure.

Thanks, it's exactly this.
( It all seemed too easy to be safe.)
thanks again

Had a similar setup with a similar problem. After reading the first post and running the wireless network set up wizard everything seems to be running on my end as well. Thanks deebee for the help though it was not your intention.:D0
