Cheshire Building Society - cash isa

Hi,

I just received a letter from Cheshire BS dated 04/02, to say that my cash isa matures on the 22/02. I received this letter today (11/02), and they tell me that if I decide to transfer the money out, their form has to be returned by the 17th February. It doesn't seem fair, as this means I have to return the form at latest next Thursday. I get more notice with my house insurance & car tax!

Any alternatives that you would suggest?

    That's nonsense!

If you don't want to roll the money over into another fix with the cheshire, Just write and tell them that you want to convert it to a variable rate account. You'll get a pittance in interest so you'll need to move it out quickly if you don't want to lose out, but it will give you time to shop around for the best deal for you.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
  • Hi,

Y/day, I e-mailed CBS, but today, I decided to ring them re: my queries. I was told by one of their advisers, that the best thing to do is nothing.
    - Let the isa mature
    - Wait for CBS to send me a new certificate
    - Then I send them a letter saying I wish to re-invest .... and refer to 60 day cooling off period + enclose a chq
It's sound great as the advantage is that I don't have to fill in another form, & all money is paid at 3%.

I asked the advisor to raise the issue of the short turn around time, and apparently other customers have complained about this. CBS are saying that the PO is to blame for the delay, but I don't believe that. Anyway,
I hope this info helps someone else.
