Have had a major clear out of my computer recently. Backed up data onto dvds, moved stuff that's not essential to a new external hard drive , cleared up disk space etc ( feeling quite proud of myself actually!) so I was now just wondering if there are any programs I can get rid of. I was specifically wondering about these:
Bonjour
Broadcom management programs
Classic phone tools
Dell support center
Dell system restore ( Dell computer)
I then have Jasc paint shop photo album AND Jasc paint shop pro 8 dell edition
Juniper networks stuff
Modem helper
Modem on hold
About 5 that say MSMXL 4.0 sp2 ( but then have differnet numbers in brackets)
PC connectivity solution
power dvd, quick time AND real player
and SLIDE which I just cannot get rid of however hard I try ( I'm blamig one of the daughters for that one!)

programs use little disk space generally, and if they aren't running don't affect performance.
The only ones in that list that will affect performance slightly are bonjour (itunes), pc connectivity (nokia probably), and quicktime/realplayer and powerdvd which tend to add a startup item, however you may wish to use some of these in the future.
If you don't ever use paint shop pro, or it's an expired trial, you could uninstall it.
Moving data to an external drive, or keeping only one copy of important data on dvd's is risky, if it's at all important keep at least 2 copies on different media.
Dell system restore you may need one day!!

, mind you, my wife needs juniper for work stuff, bonjour well rename it as 'le lendemain du pomme' Modem stuff kill them too , dell stuff ditto, phone tools die too, Basically what I am trying to say is you(children maybe) put them on there ergo you must have the originals so Blow them out of the water.

What is easy to do is use ccleaner/tools startup to disable any startup progs and see if things work ok. This is reversed same way.
Windirstat - free - is an easy to use way of seeing what is taking up space

Google any progs you don't recognise -eg bonjour is an apple thing , I don't use/need it, but you may do.0 -

A quick google suggests you may be infected with trojans
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -

Thanks for your help. The photos have been printed off, on the hard drive and saved to disk. The music is on an ipod, and on the hard drive, and is replaceable if needs be. The documents are not essential, I don't use this computer for any work stuff, and all the children's homework is always backed up on a pen drive until they no longer need it. I think that covers me for most things.0
