Unfortunately DH parents have a 2 bedroom house so no room for us to stay0 -
We did ask this at the interview and the man said doubtful but couldn't give a final answer until we find a house to rent privately which could mean we find one to then find out we are not intitled to any help so would be stuck in a house we can not afford0

You should post this on the House Buying, Renting and Selling board on here too. BTW, I don't think that your thoughts on asylum seekers are correct http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/LeisureAndCulture/CommunityCohesion/RefugeesAndAsylumSeekersFAQs.htm0

Ah thanks for this I will take this to the 2nd meeting. These are not my thoughts this is what we were actually told by the man interviewing us which is what I needed advice on as didn't think they could tell us what he did but wasn't 100% sure.
Sorry to be a pain but how do I move it over to the other board.0 -
I'm not sure if a board guide can do it? If not, then I think you just have to repost the original question as a new thread on the other board and people can then answer you on both boards.
If there's a different way then hopefully someone else will come along and correct me!0 -
Welshmoneylover, have you removed one of your posts saying how being bankrupt is my fault etc as my post above now do not make sense? Was relaying to Dh what had been posted and can't see yours anymore0

Why can't the asylum seekers go into temporary B&B instead of British citizens who have fallen on hard times?
Sorry, that's just not fair imho.
To the OP - I really do feel your only way, unfortunately, is to try to find a private let and claim LHA.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Just because a clerk at the council has said something, doesn't make it true.

I think your links are a few years old ONW, (as they mention things that WILL happen in 2007) maybe things have changed, I will see if I can find a amore recent one.
ETA: Here we are, the rules in the above link still apply:

Can immigrants jump the queue?
Some foreign nationals are eligible for social housing but they are selected on the same criteria as everyone else on the waiting list. Asylum seekers and those from outside the European Economic Area are not eligible for social housing. Asylum seekers are generally provided with accommodation by the Home Office.
So to the OP,I would go back to the Council and try again!

Hi,
thanks for your replies.
We are going back on thursday for 2 nd interview so we will ask again.
My main issue is that houses are empty, we need one but can't have one just incase which is the issue that erks me. As I said there are approx 10 empty houses which could be used but no 'just incase' seems silly especially as we would be paying rent and looking after it.
I do not have an issue with asylum seekers at all, what I do have an issue with is the ones caught working etc who then claim asylum knowing they have been caught and those ones are still above me as a priorty which seems mad.0
