However I felt that last part was a bit uncalled for. Send me a photo sweetie n' perhaps I'll let you make it upto me.

Its called "light humor". This is a discussion forum, not a courtroom. Its obvious there was no harm in my post and I have already left a message on this thread explaining that to the admin as well as amending my original comments. Lighten up a little!anewman wrote:I think if something was sent, chances are it won't be a photo. Was infact in 2 minds whether to report post to mse admins.
Let's be nice everyone and stick to discussing "degrees on the cheap"

Our college let the foundation degree students - used to be the HND - do a third year to top up as well, but as previously mentioned - only that year counts towards your mark, whereas if you've done the whole degree from Yr 1 onwards then your 2nd year counts as 25% of your mark.Noli nothis permittere te terere

I'd agree with freebie-junkie to take care on this. I did foundation degree in Proj mgmt with the intention of doing a top up.
Being the 1st intake on this FD when we graduated and then wanted to do the top up it turned out the uni hadn't even got the Proj mgmt hons set up (in fact 2 years later it's still not off the ground).
So i finished up doing the top up in business management (which in fact was better). All our grades over 8 modules counted 100% towards our final degree
Fortunately this was also available on a part time basis (although it took 2 years!) and also got p/t grants as my income fell below a certain threshold.
In the 2 classes running p/t of 60+ there were only four students who'd come thru the foundation degree route, three got a 1st (out of a total of only 4 1st's) and the other a 2:1.
I agree that many in the top up class (which also included HNDs) found the step up to 3rd year really difficult particularly regarding essay style and referencing. However it seemed the foundation degree people didn't
Maybe just luck:think:
Although the 3rd year of the FD degree was based around a worked based project, and the tutorials did do research, referencing and presentation to death.............
Got to admit as a mature student with work/family etc commitments i found it a cheap and easier option especially if considering a career change"A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist." Franklin Jones0 -
A positive comment at last! lol We are all mature students on my course, im the youngest at 24. Luckily the uni i want to go to have been running the events management degree for a long time so we need to do a few modules and pick up about 100 points to graduate with an honours degree.
Im currently sitting on a 1:1 average but i have exams this term so im expecting that to go down!Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

If you're currently averaging at a 1st, then you shouldn't have any problems with the step up to the honours part.
I don't know about your particular foundation degree (although i think it's common to all
) but even though our exams and assignments were graded we didn't get a degree classification when we graduated. Although i found it really useful to know at what classification level i was working at for when i did the top up.
Only had to do 120 Cat points for honours, but cos doing P/T (cos of dosh!) 2 years was spreading it a bit thinly, so it's easily managed in a year.lisa_75 wrote:If you get a good college, that’s great, but I feel many foundation students are thrown in at the deep end when they get to 3rd year. It is not easy joining a course when everyone has known each other and the tutors for 2 years.
The only advantage of doing it part time was the fact that all of us were new, so no established relationships etc. Plus as we were all mature/working we had a lot in common with each other, so did make life a bit easier.
Although missed out on the social side!!!!!!!!!!!

ive stepped up from an HND as well, i got final year entry as well,
not even a top up, but the main stream, ive found this very hard becuse everyone else has been there for 3 years already and knows what they are doing
handed in my first major piece of assessment today so ill tell you how i did later on
i ran out of time, was sorting out the references rite up until 5 mins before it was due in
referencing is the main problem that im having because before hand its not something that i had to do before!0
