Curly hose, good idea?

I have been thinking about buying a curly hosepipe as a smallish one would reach all round my garden.

I would like to know if they spring back and hang neatly by the tap or ( as I suspect) spring back into and tie themselves into a huge knot.

Cheers,
B

    I've been Money Tipped!
I have one of these, and can't tell you hether its good or not because the hozelock attachments it came with need someone with the strength of Atlas or at the very least Hercules to push them in.....

it seems perfectly springy and good....but I have a feeling it will never be attached to a tap to find out!
  • They do indeed spring back, bringing with them the 1001 things they have curled around on the way.

They are ok in the short term but soon lose that recoil action, More and more slack and
as mentioned the knots and kinks do not help.

If you have a straight run from the tap you maybe ok but if you have obstacles it maybe better
to run a hidden pipe and use the connectors that stop flow when you detach the nozzle.

I have a single pipe from the tap then 4 T pieces with short lengths of hose, Each fitted with a connector
thats stops the flow of water when not in use. I then use a short piece of hose to connect to the
    nearest outlet.

It only cost a few £ to do, Much cheaper than the specialist 4way stop valves. Which is another option
    if you can afford them.

I had one. It was a cheap one and I dont know if that makes a difference.

    I would not have another.

it never lost its curly-ness. it just kept wrapping around itself and kinking worse than any straight hose I have ever had.

    Hi there,

I can fully recommend this hosepipe Hozelock 20 m Auto Rewind Hose Reel I think mine was longer than this and I found one for about £60. I expect you can probably go through a cashback site too.

I am an absolutely lazy gardener but even I managed to put this one away each time I used it!!! You don't even have to wind it, just give it a little tug and then belt up the garden after it :rotfl:

Another vote for the hozelock 20m auto rewind hose, very good, and can be had for £51 and free delivery on amazon at the moment.Considering in the DIY stores these sell for upwards of £100, robbing wotsits!

Those curly hoses are awful, no way to store them neatly and can kink if pulled the wrong way ( plus you can't put them down!)

I agree with this, 1001 things also includes the heads from all of your plants  The Hozelock Reels as mentioned are better.
