Wedding Invites, Name Plates, Etc

Hiya folks, we are getting married in Sept, and want to save as much money as possible! My first obstacle is to print our own wedding invites and accessories. My question is does anyone know where I can get some templates or software for this. Look forward to your response.........
No reliance should be placed on the above.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I did our wedding invites, stationary etc etc etc on Word! This was 6 years ago too so had less gizmos on it than you can get now.

We got an artistic friend who designed a border, with logo, for us...gorgeous it was. We scanned it in and played around lots to design invites, menus, order of service etc etc etc. Buy expensive paper to print it on and people think you've spent a premium as you have a personalised logo.

So maybe think round your friends who could help you out?

  • Hi I designed the text for my invites using word - would be happy to email this too you if you would like? I was goping to print these ourselves and got a wuote from a stationery supplier for a ream of 160gsm paper for £4.99. The invites are A6 size, so my template was for 2 invites per page so you need access to a gullotine to chop them.
We have then bought a few sheets of different papers from an art shop and are making a nice handmade design for each front, this has cost less than a fiver in total and it was a nice thing for myself and my H2B to do together in the evenings over a bottle of wine! Neither of us are very "arty" the design is 3 squares each witha loveheart in them. We have used 3 contrasting colours and textures of papers and the effect is very imppressive. below this wee design are the words Wedding Invitation.
I actually ended up chatting to my local stationery supplier and he has offered to print my invites onto 300gsm card for £40 and do all the cutting and scoring. I fell in love qith the card so have decided to do this. You cant really get away with running anything thicker than 160gsm through your own printer. An alternative however is to do your inside invite bit onto a paper insert - can tie this all together with ribbon I think, maybe someone else can advise you better here.
