How many mbna cards have you got?

As they dont like you to have too much credit ie too many cards

and you cant transfer mbna to mbna

Have you checked to see if you can get a promo deal on the existing empty egg card?

If one MBNA card has turned you down there isn't really any point in applying others backed by MBNA. For an MBNA card you need to be employed, over 23, and have an income of over £20k as well as a clean credit file.

How much are your total debts? how much existing credit do you have in total? how much do you earn?
How many credit applications have you made in the last 3months?

You cannot clear your credit score.

Your issue now is likely to be that you have far too many recent applications. You look desperate for credit. Its generally advised to make no more than 3 applications in a 6month period. If this is the reason you are being declined then all you can do is wait a few months before you try applying for another card.

As to why you were declined for the first 1 or 2 cards you applied for that is more difficult to say from the info given. Are you on the electoral roll? do you have any other credit accounts other than these 2 cards? (excluding your mortgage). What are your total credit limits of all your credit accounts?

How long have you been in your current property? how long have you been in your current job? all these things are factors a potential lender takes into account, not just your payment history.

  • hi trixy. the story go`s like this ,i saw on mse that barclas was best for the %free card so i aplied for one they gave me a card with limit for £250.. i rang them up to tell them it was no good with such a small limit so they uped it to £1000 .again it was not enough so i told them to cancel it on reflection, i thought a £1000 would be a help so i aplied a gain and was declined as i had to wait 6 months to have another go i tried another coulpe cards they were mbna then it has rollered coastered from there . i am not desperate other i do not want to pay interest on them credit on the card i cannot say maybe £10000. yes i am on the electoral roll ,, been in currant job 8 years ,, been in house for 15 years .. would a visit to the c a b, be of any use to me steve
