Does a overbed unit have to be stuck to the wall?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I don't know a lot about furniture/DIY!
I want to get something like this:
http://direct.asda.com/Hampton-Cream-amp%3B-Pine-Overbed-Unit/BUN17HACR002,default,pd.html

It doesn't say on the site if it has to be fixed to a wall, does anyone know if it will have to be or not? And if it does have to be fixed to the wall, will it be permanent, so will it be stuck there if I move house?
:o I'm a money wasting expert. :o

We have some overbed stuff that is freestanding is has intergral bed and larger units also deeper 600mm these are 430mm.

That looks like it would be ok but benifit/extra safety from a single fixing each side to stop it falling forward.

How secure the center part is will depend how it is fixed to the uprights and how heay you load it.

How easy it would be to move will depend on the construction and fixings used, some don't like being dismantled more than once or twice unless higher quality.

You'd want it fixing somehow otherwise the whole lot risks coming forwards - the base is quite small for its height so it would have a high centre of gravity. Having said that we are only really talking about 2 to 4 screws (with rawlplugs) into the wall to fix it back against the wall as most of the weight will be taken on the side structures. If you want to move you simply unscrew it and fill in the holes in the wall.

  • Something like that definitely needs fixing to wall. Can easily be moved in future by removing screws. Don't "stick" it as you suggested otherwise you will struggle to move it again

Thanks for posting link actually as looks a reasonable price and is something we are after for a spare room!

A few screws in the wall certainly won't do it any harm. It would be unfortunate to wake up one morning with a cupboard door handle in your face.

all the ones ive seen come with two small L shape brackets.
fixed at the very top, into the wall, with rawlplugs and screws. simple job.
can easy be removed if you move house.
