registery cleaners

I have had to reformat my pc and now its running like a snail with a chest infection!!!
i have done a free scan and it showed i have 519 problems. This was done with a free Max Registary cleaner.
Are there any free cleaner downloads out there or will i have to buy one to fix my problems??

  • A good, simple, free & safe one is CCleaner from https://www.ccleaner.com

As you've just reformatted you shouldn't have that number of problems anyway - it should start with a 'clean slate' so to speak. Was it just a repair installation & what was the original problem?
  • CCleaner is pretty good and many people who use this forum seem to like it.

You can use it to clean out junk (temp internet files etc) from your PC or it will also clean the registry. To clean the registry, Click Issues, Scan for issues, then Fix selected issues. HTH

Sorry, Tallymanjohn just beat me to it!
  • I think the tool, Max Registry Cleaner, is causing your problems!

if you have done a clean install check all the device drivers are installed,
    do >
start > control panel (switch to classic view) > system > hardware tab > device manage
now look for any icons with an little yellow triangle with an ! mark

see if any are highlighted as it sounds more like driver problems as for that program i havn't used it but sounds like a hell of lot for a new install
I tend to use registry mechanic (might be on free trail)
just checked no free trail but online free check
  • have you installed sp2 and a virus scanner yet?

I use 'regscrubXP' (sorry don't have a link) and don't know if it's only for WindowsXP (sorry not very detailed info) but I've been using it for about a year and it's very good.
