bogus ppi calls

Hi all
I just had a call from a company who claim to be able to reclaim ppi
the number that called was a bogus number and when googled, came up as a nuisance caller. the number is 08453 005044
they ignored the fact that i am registered with the TPI and claimed that they were ok to call because the information was passed to then by a company called phruite ? . anyone know how to stop them calling ?

Same as above - said they were from the 'Ministry of Justice, a Government Department'.

Its the inability to speak English properly thats the giveaway.

I said that the call was being recorded and the line went dead - funny that!

That is a classic scam by dodgy claims companies. Sometimes you get FSA or the ombudsman as well. Usually its followed by letting you know there is a pot of money waiting to be claimed or something along those lines.

They must get a lot of success scamming people with those phrases as these methods have been around for years.

Since I lodged a complaint against WF in November I have been receiving calls like this on my mobile on an almost daily basis. I tell them I am reclaiming on my own and don't need any help. It seems strange that I stared getting these calls after I had started the reclaiming process though.

I have heard anecdotal reports of people contracted to investigate complaints at various firms and also FOS either moonlighting as claims chasers or passing details on.

I have not, as yet, managed to get definitive proof, though.

quick update on bogus PPI claim company
I rang the telephone preferances service and logged a complaint and gave them the number and they said they would investigate. They also said that these numbers are not exempt from tps and they are breaking the law.
