Please help!
Ive made 2 loaves so far with my cookworks breadmaker.
The first was a disaster...it sunk.Very yellow, horrible and hard like a brick. That was with strong flour. It came out looking like it had been fried!
Second loaf I used self raising flour but texture was more like a bathroom sponge than bread although it rised better.I halved oil in recipie(I only had sunflower in) but its still yellow not white or I'd even be happy with a creamy coloured loaf.Just doesnt taste nice or look appetising.Ive not left anything out.
Can I cut out oil out of recipie completely?
Anyone had same problem.Advice desperately needed!

310ml water
2 tbl oil(I halved this)
1.5tsp sugar
1.5tsp salt
2 tbl dried milk
600g flour I changed strong to self raising slight improvement
packet dried yeast0 -
errr how much yeast in a packet? you usually only need between 1/2 and 1 tspMy Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Hi flufff,
I think most breadmakers take around three hours to bake a loaf, unless it has a fast bake programme. I haven't tried a fast bake one yet, but from reading what others say, the quality and size of the bread isn't so good....although some do like it.
Did you manage to find your instructions? Some breadmakers seem to need you to be very precise....mine really labours that you have to measure everything exactly.

It's far faster to set the breadmaker to dough and then bake in the oven if that's too long for you to wait.My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Ive no idea lol!I can make pastry etyc but i'm useless at baking.
oops. They are the tescos prepacked yeast.I would say they contained a good tablespoon. So it looks like I'm using far too much yeast.Thankyou :-)
I shall go try again!0 -
You could substitute 30g white Flora for the oil.
Are you putting the ingredients in in the proper order? With mine it's water in first, dry stuff on top, and it doesn't come out right if I do it differently.0 -
I'll try the white flora.Hopefully I'll have some olive oil in when ive done my grocery shop.I didnt like idea of eating oil as I grill everything i cook very fat conscious.
Yes I have to put liquids in mine first or the flour gets stuck in corners as I found out on my first attempt <goes red>
Will update later to confirm if too much yeast was the problem.
Thankyou everyone0 -

So long as the yeast does not come in to contact with the liquid, you should be ok. It's the water that starts the reaction:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
