Re: Banks taking advantage of us all. We should all do something about it!

I think I may have a good suggestion that would be wonderful if someone could take forward.
Its not bad enough the politicians are screwing us out of every penny to pay for their incompetent decision making. They further squander our hard earned monies to pay banks as a reward for their miss management and we are all duped into believing this is all part of life and there is nothing we can do about it.
On top of their government windfalls, the banks are charging excessive fees and continue to pay fantastic bonuses whilst the rest of us are hard pressed to make ends meet.
Those of us who have been prudent over the years, saving every penny are also being screwed over by the banks. They refuse to pay interest for our monies even though they need our funds to turn into profits. To add insult to injury, government endorsed inflation makes sure our savings are further devalued year upon year. The whole system is completely unfair and disgraceful.
Someone stop the world, I want to get off!!!
My Idea.
Give the people (and not the incompetent government) some control to dictate what we want from banks.
The creation of a high profile campaign giving banks an eight week deadline to get their act in order.
The campaign should invite everybody and anybody who have any savings with any bank to withdraw all their savings on a specific date if the banks do not comply with our requirements. The power of e-mail and face book should ensure a good campaign coverage.
The banks should be warned that if they don't increase interest rates etc. we will all withdraw all our funds on a specific date and cripple them overnight.
Anyway, I think its a good idea, what do you think....

can you imagine the number of muggings that would happen if people are likely to be walking around with their life savings in cash on them.0

From every good, comes an evil. You can't let that run your life though.

Here we go again.
Someone who doesn't understand economics, and that a full run on all banks, would bring the whole economy to it's knees.
Banks are commercial organisations. The financial services sector is very much the only industry this country has got left, pays the Treasury tens of billions in tax a year.
I suggest the you google Project Merlin, and see what that's all about.
As for yout idea.... complete tosh and will never be allowed to happen.Best Regards

What do I think? I think you're an idiot. That's what i think.
Stop reading the Daily Mail and get with the real world. What you are proposing would be catastrophic, not for the banks but for the economy and for you.
Honestly, start to think things through a bit would you, instead of thinking in platitudes and cliches.0 -
Starting to get sick of these !!!!ing threads.
Banks are a business not a !!!!ing charity. If you don't like the service/ interest rates your bank offers you, take your accounts elsewhere to a mutual society or a credit union, or put it under your mattress.
If you don't like bonuses, run for parliament and lobby against them.0 -
Enjoy your money whilst you can, stop whinging about interest rates, life is much too short. Quit reading the Daily Mail/Express, there is a whole wonderful world out there, go and see what it has and be grateful for what you have.0

I have never heard anything so stupid in my entire life - and quite frankly - hope I never do again. Let's withdraw all our money, bring the economy to its knees and give thiefs and robbers a bigger incentive to steal from us. ARE YOU RIGHT IN THE HEAD!? :mad:Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers - make sure your hands are clean. Bob Marley - Legend.0 -

Oh dear. Where do you start with this?
First off, I'm fascinated that you had this thought, AND then managed to pass it through your fingers and onto my screen without any internal biological "checks & balances" stepping in.
You haven't thought this through, have you??0 -
It seems to me perfectly rational to choose which businesses you want to do business with.
Perfectly reasonable for irresponsible companies to be driven to bankruptcy if they don't meet their customers asperations.
Attempting to bring the entire financial system to its knees would be a little extreme as the unintended consequences would harm us all.
Unfortunately the building societies provide no better services than the banks but one can of course move ones business to them to 'punish' the banks for the high bonuses or perceived unreasonable behaviour.0 -
