£1.08 Overdrawn - First Time Offense in 10 Years - Barclays Refuses to Waive £22 Fee

I don't particularly subscribe to the personal reserve being any kind of "service" for which I ought to be grateful. I've now opted out, as I had never been overdrawn before, this being the first time in a long period of banking with Barclays. There is a culture of shoulder shrugging amongst a certain quarter, and a "Them's the rules!" attitude. Surely anybody, even those that agree with a bank's right to make money from charges and fees as I do, can see that such a deal is heavily and unfairly weighted in the merchant's, rather than the customer's, favour?
No one said you ought to be grateful for the service.
You have the choice of whether to use it or not. You chose to use it.0 -
I am suprised they did not waive the fee as a 1st offence, i am with Santander and Nationwide and they have both done this for me on seperate occasions, it's just common sense and good customer service. Just take it forward as a forma complaint and also make sure you put this forward as a financial hardship complaint as this maybe considered slightly differently than a normal fees complaint. good luck! Live well laugh often, love much.
1 overdraft with Santander paid off, credit card almost gone, 1 overdraft that has been halved!! V chuffed with myself!!! :T0
